ASLI GEN LEGACY (AGL)
Asli Gen Legacy (AGL) was founded by Rev. Rachel Elaine Baptist on August 21, 2019.
AGL became an accredited social enterprise on December 16, 2021, through the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC). AGL derives from the word “ASLI” signifies that every individual possesses a unique, God-given purpose. Our ultimate goal to Educate, Instill & Empower Young People, to become a catalyst for positive change in their communities, thereby creating a lasting legacy that contributes to sustainable development goals.
Rachel has experience working with various age groups: children, young people and adults in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand. In August 2005, Rachel served as a youth director in an orphanage, where she played a vital role in establishing the orphanage’s home school. In addition to serving as a counselor, she oversaw the spiritual and character development of the children.
Since 2005, she has worked with over 50 Orang Asli children and youth as well as Orang Asli communities . In August 2019, she resigned from the orphanage to start AGL.
After Rachel completed her Diploma in Counselling, she established H.O.P.E (Helping Others Progress Effectively), a community counseling service for the people of Serdang.
Currently, the AGL team is receiving coaching training as Associate Coaches through Morphos International, based in Singapore. Supported by PEAKS Psychometric Technology, the team is equipped with psychometric tools to assess and coach young people in various areas, including life skills, academics, career development, relationships, and leadership. Morphos International partners with AGL to train the team as professional coaches, specializing in life coaching skills.
OUR VISION
Empower Young People to become a Catalyst for positive change, creating a lasting legacy of Sustainable Development for Communities and Beyond.
OUR MISSION
Educate, Instill and Empower young people to become Catalyst for Positive change in their Communities, with a focus on inspiring Malaysia’s B40 population, especially the Orang Asli/Asal community.
CORE PURPOSE
In line with the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) in Malaysia, we believe quality education is the cornerstone of every society. This promotes self-care and enhances quality of life, contributing positively to social stability and continuous economic growth, which in turn help reduce the poverty rates in our country.
Quality education and character development go hand in hand in shaping responsible members of society. Instilling the right core values is crucial for individuals to develop the skills, sense of purpose, and correct behaviours needed to navigate life successfully.
True empowerment in an individual is made possible because of quality education and instillation of positive values. By equipping individuals with resources, critical thinking skills and knowledge, we enable them to gain the confidence to overcome challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.
